California Department of Water Resources develops criteria to define locations for future setback levees in the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta and Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta watershed.
Measure Details
In 2016, the Central Valley Flood Protection Plan (CVFPP) Conservation Strategy was completed to support integration of flood system planning and ecosystem protection and restoration. The CVFPP included targets for future levee setbacks. A draft document (Appendix I of the CVFPP Conservation Strategy) identifies the specific criteria used to develop these targets (see pages I-7 through I-14). The appendix also identified feasible locations for setting back levees and a procedure for setback levee feasibility evaluation; however, the draft appendix was not adopted as part of the final plan.
