Multi-Hazard Coordination Timeline

Federal, State and Local agencies have been working towards the recommendations in the Multi-Hazard Coordination Task Force for years. This timeline documents some of the efforts to support those recommendations. Although individual recommendations may be marked complete in our measure, these efforts will always be ongoing because emergency preparedness requires continual effort.

About the Measure

The Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta Multi-Hazard Coordination Task Force (Task Force) created recommendations that will improve emergency preparedness and response in the Delta. The Task Force identified recommendations for local, State, and federal agencies responsible for emergency response authority (Water Code section 12994.5). Risk to people, property, and State interests in the Delta will be reduced by carrying out the Task Force recommendations.

Responsible agencies include: FEMA, USACE, Cal OES, DWR, reclamation districts, levees maintaining agencies, Office of Emergency Services from: Contra Costa, Sacramento, San Joaquin, Solano, Yolo counties and associated local government agencies.

Having a well-planned and executed emergency preparedness and response strategy will help reduce potential casualties and damages from all hazards. Tracking the implementation status indicates overall performance of responsible agencies implementing the emergency preparedness and response strategy.

Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta Emergency Preparedness Act of 2008 (SB 27)/Water Code section 12994.5 (repealed in 2011), mandated the creation of a Delta Multi-Hazard Coordination Task Force to submit a report with its strategy and recommendations to the Legislature and the Governor. Delta Plan Strategy and Recommendation

Each chapter of the Delta plan includes strategies to achieve the goals of the plan. These strategies are general guidance on achieving the objective laid out in the plan and in the Delta Reform Act of 2009. Associated with these strategies are recommendations. The recommendations describe more specific and implementable actions to support the achievement of Delta Plan strategies. Strategies and recommendations may also have associated performance measures. Delta Plan performance measures track progress in achieving desired outcomes for the Delta Plan. Below are the strategy and the recommendation associated with this performance measure.
